You deserve a waxing experience that actually makes sense for your body. Not a modified version of something else. Not a service where you have to explain yourself three times just to be understood. The T-Zilian was built for trans clients specifically, and at WAX LABS in West Hollywood, it's one of the services we're proudest to offer.
If you've been curious but weren't sure what the service involves or how the whole thing works, this is for you.
What Is the T-Zilian?
The T-Zilian is an intimate waxing service designed for transgender and non-binary clients. We offer two variations based on anatomy and transition goals:
T-Zilian (M to F): Designed for trans women and those assigned male at birth. This service focuses on the pelvic region and removes hair in a way that creates a feminine aesthetic in the pubic area. Pricing starts at $101, with an extended version at $119.
T-Zilian (F to M): Designed for trans men and those assigned female at birth. This version focuses on the bikini and pelvic area using techniques suited to that anatomy. Pricing starts at $72, with an extended version at $89.
The extended options cover more surface area and are great for clients who want a cleaner, more thorough result.
How It Differs from a Brazilian or Manzilian
You might be wondering why the T-Zilian exists as its own service instead of just booking a Brazilian or a Manzilian. The answer comes down to anatomy, technique, and the kind of result you're after.
A Brazilian is designed around one set of anatomical expectations. A Manzilian is designed around another. Trans bodies don't always fit neatly into either category, whether because of hormonal changes affecting skin sensitivity, hair texture shifts, or the aesthetic outcome the client actually wants.
The T-Zilian accounts for all of that. Our waxologists are trained to work with trans anatomy specifically and to talk through your preferences so the service matches what you're looking for, not just what a standard service menu assumes.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
First appointments always come with a few nerves. That's completely normal, and our team knows it. Here's what actually happens when you come in.
A short consultation: Before anything starts, your waxologist will ask a few questions about your preferences, any areas of sensitivity, whether you're on hormone therapy, and what kind of result you're going for. This isn't an interrogation. It's a way to make sure the service is tailored to you.
Hormones and skin sensitivity: If you're on HRT, that's worth mentioning. Estrogen therapy can make skin thinner and more sensitive over time. Testosterone therapy can increase hair coarseness. Both of those things affect the approach and the aftercare recommendations. Your waxologist will adjust accordingly.
The wax itself: We use hard wax for sensitive areas like the bikini and pelvic region. Hard wax grips the hair rather than the skin, which makes it gentler for intimate areas. The appointment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the service. You can read more about how we approach intimate area waxing and why the technique matters for sensitive skin.
Aftercare: You'll leave with aftercare instructions. The basics are the same as any wax: avoid heat, friction, and tight clothing for 24 to 48 hours. Skip the gym for a day. Moisturize. If you want a full breakdown of what the recovery period looks like, our post-wax skincare guide covers everything.
How to Communicate Your Needs
You don't need to use any particular language. You don't need to bring documentation. You just need to tell us what you want.
Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want: a clean front, nothing in the back, specific shape. Others come in and say "I'm not totally sure, I just know I want it to look more feminine" or "I want everything gone." Both of those are completely fine starting points. Our waxologists are good at asking the right follow-up questions to get clarity without making you repeat yourself or feel uncomfortable.
If you have specific terminology you prefer for your body parts, use it. We'll follow your lead. If you'd rather not use clinical terms at all, that's fine too.
Ingrown Hairs, Skin Reactions, and What's Normal
Intimate waxing on any body involves some post-wax skin response. You might see redness for a few hours. Some clients experience minor bumps in the first day or two, especially if it's their first time waxing that area. That's the follicle adjusting.
What's not normal: persistent ingrown hairs, inflammation that lasts more than a few days, or skin that keeps breaking out between appointments. If that's happening, it's worth looking at whether you're shaving between sessions, which disrupts the hair growth cycle and makes things worse. It's also worth considering an add-on service.
The Jewel Facial is a 30-minute treatment for the pelvic area that addresses exactly those issues. It includes a cleanse, steam, extractions, a mask, and a moisturizer. A lot of clients pair it with their T-Zilian appointment, especially once they're maintaining a regular waxing routine.
Getting on a Regular Waxing Schedule
Consistent waxing makes everything easier. Hair grows in cycles, and when you wax on a regular schedule, the follicles gradually sync up. That means less discomfort over time, finer regrowth, and better results at each appointment.
For the T-Zilian, most clients come in every 3 to 5 weeks depending on how quickly their hair grows back. If you're on testosterone, you may find you need to come in on the shorter end of that range. If you're on estrogen and have been for a while, hair tends to come back finer and slower.
Our guide on how often you should really come in breaks down the timing by body area if you want more detail. And if you're building a full waxing routine, our year-round scheduling tips can help you stay consistent without the stress of remembering to book.
