Same Wax, New Name: The Story Behind the Waxology WeHo to WAX LAB Rebrand

If you've been a client for a while, you may have noticed the name change. The salon on Santa Monica Blvd that you knew as Waxology WeHo is now WAX LAB. Same address. Same team. Same commitment to inclusive, high-quality waxing for every body type, gender, and orientation in West Hollywood.

But a name change doesn't happen for no reason, and this one reflects something real about where this business has been and where it's going.

Where It Started

Waxology WeHo opened with a clear purpose: to be an all-inclusive, full-body waxing salon in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Los Angeles. West Hollywood has always had a community that takes self-care seriously and expects their service providers to actually understand them, not just accommodate them.

Founder Aimee Engler built the salon around that expectation from the beginning. The service menu reflected it. The training reflected it. The fact that the T-Zilian existed as its own dedicated service for trans clients from early on wasn't a marketing decision. It was a statement about who the salon was for.

Over time, the clientele grew. The service menu expanded beyond waxing to include facials, microdermabrasion, eyelash services, eyebrow lamination, and cosmetic tattoo work. The team grew. Memberships were introduced. The operation got more sophisticated.

The name Waxology WeHo made sense for where the business started. It stopped fully capturing where the business had arrived.

Why WAX LAB

The name WAX LAB communicates a few things that Waxology WeHo didn't.

Labs suggests precision, craft, and expertise. It signals that what happens in this space is taken seriously, not just as a commodity service but as skilled, professional work. Every wax isn't just a wax. It's a service performed by trained waxologists who understand technique, skin, hair growth cycles, and the specific needs of diverse clients.

The name also scales. Waxology WeHo was tied to a single location. WAX LAB is a brand that can grow. The franchise offering that's now part of the business model is a direct result of the reputation built under the original name, and it needed an identity that could travel.

The tagline says it plainly: "Top to Bottom, EveryBODY Glows." That's the promise. WAX LAB is the name it travels under now.

What Hasn't Changed

Everything that made Waxology WeHo worth going to is still there.

The team is the same. Aimee and the waxologists who built their reputations at this location are still here. The specialized training, the professional relationships with clients who've been coming in for years, the institutional knowledge about how to handle sensitive areas, complex skin types, and clients with specific needs, none of that transferred to a new staff. It stayed because the staff stayed.

The product line is the same. WAX LAB exclusively uses Theias Beauty, an all-natural, cruelty-free, vegan brand. That commitment hasn't changed.

The inclusive environment hasn't changed. WAX LAB celebrates all body types, shapes, sizes, genders, and sexual orientations. This isn't language that got added to a new website. It's been the operating culture of this salon from the first day it opened.

The location hasn't changed. 8621 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069.

What's New

The franchise opportunity is the most significant addition. WAX LAB is now positioned to bring this service model to other markets, which means clients who've recommended the salon to friends in other cities may eventually have somewhere to send them.

The expanded service menu also reflects a shift in how the business thinks about itself. WAX LAB isn't just a waxing salon that also does a few other things. It's a full-body care destination. The Junk, Jewel, and Booty Facials, the back and body microdermabrasion treatments, and the full lash and brow menu sit alongside waxing as equal parts of a complete service offering.

For clients who've been coming in for years for a single service, it may be worth looking at the full services page to see what else is available. A lot has been added.
